Welcome to the Wallowa Avalanche Center on the web. We provide the winter backcountry traveler with tools to make an informed decision about winter travel in Northeast Oregon. The Wallowa Mountains contain outstanding opportunities for backcountry skiing and snowmobiling. Currently no official avalanche advisory, forecast, or prediction covers the Wallowa Mountains. Nothing on this site should be construed as a forecast, advisory or prediction. Wallowa Avalanche Center provides resources for individuals to make their own decisions. Our goals for the future include a local advisory and we appreciate your support toward this goal.

The following summaries were written by Wallowa Avalanche Center Staff. These summaries  were  developed from a broad spectrum of data collected each week by WAC Staff and WAC qualified Observers. These summaries are not a forecast and cannot substitute for good knowledge and decision making skills in avalanche terrain. If you have any doubt about conditions, please stay away from any avalanche terrain. You can usually find good places to go that are not prone to avalanche conditions. If you have any questions about where to find such places, you should consider further avalanche educational opportunities, such as those listed on our education page.
