Press Release

September 24th, 2009 — 9:43pm

We here at the Center are hopeful that the Press Release published in both the Chieftain and Observer today will alert folks to our existence. Please make a comment here or in our forum portion of the website (under current conditions). And tell everyone you know we are doing this for you, the backcountry recreational users.

That said, the effort to get this Center up and going is due to tremendous and diligent work put forth by the following individuals who are now officially connected to the WAC organization:

The Board of Directors:
Charla Whiting – Board Member
Julian Pridmore-Brown – Board Member
Ken Bronec – Board Member
Roger Averbeck – Board Member
Penny Arentsen – Board Member
Keith Stebbings – Board Member

Our advisors:
Jerry Hustafa – adjunct advisor
Connelly Brown – adjunct advisor
Sweyn Wall – adjunct advisor nominee
Don Sharaf – senior advisor nominee

Your donations will help us continue the momentum we have acquired to provide yet more features and implement new ideas before winter sets in.

Keith Stebbings, President/director

Director News

September 23rd, 2009 — 7:00am

Our Center has a new Senior Advisor. Don Sharaf co-owner of American Avalanche Institute, long time AAA certified avalanche educator and Alaskan Heli-ski guide will be on call for us when needed. He has already provided very helpful insight as we deal with the best way to get field observer information into a useful form for the website. Thanks Don.

And yes, your director is still working on the official welcome which will have a bit of history and future direction.

From the director and all of us here at WAC – we work for you.

Welcome from the director

September 16th, 2009 — 8:42am

We appreciate you visiting our site. Within a few days I will issue a more lengthy entry with a short chronology of how we got here, stuff accomplished over the summer months and where we’re going in the next few months. Please tell all of your winter user friends about us and please consider a donation in any amount to allow us to continue to grow and offer you yet more great things.

Please consider offering suggestions to us on how we can arrange/design the site to better serve your needs and we will do our best to try to incorporate them. Start thinking snow!

From the director and all of us here at WAC – we work for you.

Website Updates…..

September 6th, 2009 — 7:05pm

Our website is up with some improvements.  The blog was added to the front page which should help keep the site current. The PayPal links were fixed and added to the border so it appears on every page on the site. On the Local Weather page, the map was enlarged for better clarity, the icons were changed to yellow and the font size increased a point. On the Education page, the classes currently offered in the area were added. Our site is still a work in progress and we appreciate any ideas!
